Excellence in Healthcare
Among the major assets of Winter Haven are its excellent health care facilities. The city is home to Winter Haven Hospital and the Regency
Medical Center. It is also served by nearby Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center and Lake Wales Medical Center. Residents are served by two
large multi-specialty clinics, several smaller group practices, a walk-in clinic, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, managed care, home
health care, and many other physicians, dentists and health specialists. Practitioners represent nearly every field of medicine including vascular,
addictions counseling, massage and physical therapy, podiatry, reconstructive surgery, psychology and psychiatry, ophthalmology and dermatology.
Community-operated Winter Haven Hospital, a not-for-profit, 527-bed facility, provides 24-hour emergency room service and the latest in medical technology. During 2005 the hospital received approval for and opened the Bostick Heart Center offering a comprehensive program of cardiac care services. The hospital is staffed by more than 300 physicians and surgeons representing all fields of medicine. It operates a primary care network with offices throughout Polk County and is affiliated with Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Other Winter Haven Hospital services include a diagnostic and ambulatory surgical center treating those individuals not requiring an overnight hospital stay. The Winter Haven Hospital Blood Bank is located on the main hospital campus.
Winter Haven-based Regency Medical Center, a 50-bed women's facility, offers obstetrical and gynecological care. The Regency also offers same-day surgery.
Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center is a 142-bed hospital offering a full spectrum of acute care services supported by more than 170 physicians representing various medical specialties.
Lake Wales Medical Center operates a 154-bed acute care hospital serving the Greater Lake Wales area. The hospital serves patients for 50 active physicians providing a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services.
In addition to the hospital, there are several free-standing outpatient surgical centers including Eye Surgery & Laser Center, LLC, Day Surgery Center and the Winter Haven Ambulatory Surgical Center.
