The 2008 Banker’s Cup/Taste of Winter Haven will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m. at Nora Mayo Hall. The theme for this year’s evening is “Art Deco to Ziegfeld… A look at the 1930s.” Winter Haven first awarded the prestigious Banker’s Cup in 1923, recognizing an outstanding citizen for contributions to our community. From those humble beginnings sponsored by area banks, the award has endured, and the event has become an elegant evening presented by the chamber and underwritten in part by our area financial institutions. Tradition continues as guests will enjoy a “Taste of Winter Haven” served by fine area restaurants and catering members.

The Banker’s Cup presentation will highlight the elegant “black-tie optional” evening. Advance reservations are required. Tickets are $100 per person and $800 for reserved tables of eight. Formal invitations will be mailed in mid-December.

The Banker’s Cup awards are selected by an anonymous committee of past recipients. To nominate an individual for the recognition, address your nomination to “2008 Banker’s Cup Awards Committee,” P.O. Box 1420, Winter Haven, FL 33882-1420 or deliver to the chamber. Deadline is Friday, Jan. 11, 2008.
